Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship fixture between Millwall and Huddersfield Town, including team news and predicted lineups.

Millwall welcome Huddersfield Town to The Den on Saturday afternoon with the opportunity to strengthen their hold of a top-six spot in the Championship standings.

Meanwhile, the Terriers travel to East London on the back of two successive defeats, the latest one coming against low-scoring Birmingham City on Wednesday night.


Match preview

After Gary Rowett recorded a positive coronavirus test earlier this month, there is little doubt that Millwall's preparations have been far from ideal over recent games.

However, the Lions have still managed to put together a run of three victories and a draw, taking the club into third position in the table.

Millwall are still to score more than two goals in a second-tier game this season, but their strong defensive record and professionalism have put the club in a favourable position.

Jed Wallace is the only player to net more than one strike in the Championship, although recent addition Kenneth Zohore will soon change that statistic if he builds on his effort against Preston North End earlier this week.

Just over a week ago, Huddersfield were threatening to move past Millwall in the table after collecting 10 points from four matches.

As a result of defeats to Preston and Birmingham, the Terriers will now head into this weekend's encounter in 16th spot, five points adrift of their next opponents.

With a sending-off and a last-minute goal contributing to those setbacks, Carlos Corberna will not be too concerned at this stage of the season.

Nevertheless, the Yorkshire outfit have to show far more in the final third having failed to score more than one goal in eight of their nine matches under the Spaniard's watch.

Despite their recent slump, Huddersfield still hold a five-point cushion ahead of the relegation zone.

Team News

Providing that he recovers from his first 75-minute run-out since January, Zohore should keep his place in the Millwall XI.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson is an alternative to Mason Bennett, but Rowett could stick with the same starting lineup.

Naby Sarr should return to the centre of the Huddersfield backline after serving a one-match ban.

Jonathan Hogg is expected to miss out after picking up an injury against Blues, while Alex Pritchard could return to the side in place of Juninho Bacuna.

Isaac Mbenza is in line to replace Adama Diakhaby in attack after his goal at St Andrew's.

Based on their recent form, everything is pointing to a home win. Although we expect Huddersfield to make things competitive throughout the 90 minutes, they may struggle to break down an efficient Millwall side who look solid at both ends of the pitch.
