A lack of attacking quality has resulted in no goals being scored in the first half of the League Cup fourth round meeting between MK Dons and Sheffield United.
Neither side was looking to take a backward step in the early stages, but clear chances were rare as regular mistakes in the final third of the pitch ensured the goalkeepers were not kept busy.
Sheffield United shot-stopper Mark Howard was forced into action midway through the first half to make a comfortable save from Dean Bowditch, who was struggling to keep his balance as he targeted the top corner with a volley.
It was the visitors who started to apply more pressure as the interval approached, but their struggles continued as an uneventful first half ended without a breakthrough being made.
