Two goals from Emi Buendia have earned Getafe a 3-1 triumph at MK Dons.
MK Dons started well against their La Liga opponents, but the visitors took the lead on five minutes when former Swansea City man Alvaro Vasquez stole in to head home from close range.
Despite falling behind, MK Dons were having the better of the play, but they fell further behind shortly after the half-hour mark when Buendia was on hand to bundle the ball into the net after David Martin had failed to deal with a cross.
However, with seven minutes remaining of the half, MK Dons halved the deficit when Joe Walsh glanced a header into the far corner.
Getafe had the upper hand after the restart, though, and after Pedro Leon had sent a volley wide, Buendia netted his second of the night with a strike from 20 yards.
The home side pushed for a second goal as they searched for a way back into the match, with Daniel Powell twice having shots saved by Vicente Guaita.
Getafe held on for victory but they were reduced to 10 men in the closing moments after Alexis was dismissed for pushing Samir Carruthers in the face.
