AFC Wimbledon throw away an early lead as they succumb to an inspired fightback from Morecambe, who claim a 5-2 victory at Kingsmeadow in League Two.

Morecambe came from a goal behind to earn a memorable 5-2 away victory over hosts AFC Wimbledon in League Two this afternoon.

Wimbledon made the most of a frantic start to take the lead after just three minutes, when Lyle Taylor slipped in Andy Barcham, who made no mistake with a shot into the bottom-right corner to make it 1-0 to the hosts.

Morecambe responded straight away with an equaliser, however, as Shaun Miller made the most of Semi Ajayi's defensive error to slot in a penalty four minutes later.

Miller began to cause problems all over the final third of the pitch, and he struck once more with a memorable long-range effort that flew past James Shea to give the visitors a 2-1 lead after 13 minutes.

The away side continued to grow in strength and they were able to net a third just before the interval thanks to Alan Goodall, who responded to Jamie Devitt's set piece to fire into the top corner.

Wimbledon were slightly improved after the break and they were able to pull a goal back through Adebayo Akinfenwa after just four second-half minutes had been played.

The hosts' second was not to prove too important, though, given that Miller returned late on to play in Tom Barkhuizen, and he made no mistake from range to add his side's fourth.

The away side kept pressing for yet more goals and they soon conjured a fifth, this time as Paul Mullin added more misery to Wimbledon's afternoon in the 90th minute.
