Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has set a new Serie A goal record after scoring a hat-trick in his team's 4-0 win over Frosinone on Saturday night.
The Argentine international's three goals in Naples took him onto 36 league goals for the season, one ahead of Gunnar Nordahl's total of 35 while representing AC Milan in the 1949-50 campaign.
The 28-year-old has doubled his total of 18 league goals from the 2014-15 campaign and inspired his team to a runners-up finish in the Italian top flight for the first time since 2013.
Higuain, who joined Napoli from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks.
Chelsea and Manchester United are both believed to be keen admirers of the 52-time Argentine international.
