Napoli have made their sixth signing of the summer transfer window with the acquisition of Brazilian goalkeeper Rafael from Santos.
The 23-year-old arrives at the Stadio San Paolo as speculation linking current stopper Morgan de Sanctis with a move to Serie A rivals Roma gathers pace.
Rafael, who made his debut for the Selecao in a 4-1 win over USA last year, said that the lure of Champions League football convinced him of a move to Europe.
However, he has not ruled out the possibility of one day returning to Vila Belmiro.
"I always thought I would finish my career here at Santos, but with the passage of time I realised that I wanted to play in Europe and in the Champions League," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.
"But that does not mean that one day I will come back and finish my career at Santos."
New boss Rafael Benitez has already secured the signatures of Jose Callejon, Dries Mertens, Pablo Armero, Emanuele Calaio and Josip Radosevic this summer.
