Netherlands manager Bert Van Marwijk has insisted that he will not accept losing to Germany when the two sides meet on Wednesday.
The Dutch were one of the pre-tournament favourites but suffered a 1-0 defeat to Group B outsiders Denmark in their opening game.
They now meet one of the big contenders to win Euro 2012 in Germany, who beat Portugal in their first match, and Van Marwijk is adamant that his side can topple the Germans.
"You simply have to beat Germany, that is clear," said Van Marwijk.
"I refuse to accept defeat at this stage.
"We showed we can play well. We can create a lot of chances. We also showed that. And in the past we have proven that we can beat Germany, so why not now?"
The Netherlands face Germany in their second Group B fixture on Wednesday.
