Arjen Robben has claimed that the Netherlands deserved more from their World Cup campaign after clinching third place with a 3-0 victory over Brazil on Saturday night.
Despite attempting to remain positive when speaking after the triumph over the hosts, Robben admitted that he was still finding it difficult to recover from the disappointment of not reaching the final.
"It was a great end. You can get rid of a bit of the shock of not going to the final, but not completely," the Bayern Munich winger told reporters. "The disappointment stays, we've been so close. We deserved more.
"I'm finished, I've given everything. We've come so close.
"That's why the third place is so deserved. I'm so proud of this team, compliments to them."
Robben is one of the candidates to win the Golden Ball for the tournament's best player.
