Newcastle Jets have registered a narrow 2-0 victory over A-League leaders Brisbane Roar at the Suncorp Stadium this morning.
Mike Mulvey's men, who boasted a five-point lead at the summit of Australia's top flight prior to kickoff, went behind after defender James Donachie inadvertently slid the ball past his goalkeeper Michael Theo on 34 minutes following a teasing cross by Andrew Hoole.
The visitors struggled to build on their one-goal advantage, while Roar faced similar challenges in negating the lead but, with three minutes remaining, Gary van Egmond's men made certain of the points.
Matt Smith failed to deal with Joshua Brillante's cross, and Joey Gibbs was on hand to poke past Theo from close range to inflict a fourth defeat of the campaign on the leaders.
