Newcastle Jets owner Nathan Tinkler has revealed that he is trying to convince Stoke City striker Peter Crouch to move to the Australian A-League.
The club believe that the forward could be a "marquee signing" for the Jets, and Tinkler is hopeful that Emile Heskey, who spent two seasons in the A-League, will help persuade Crouch to move Down Under.
"I've spoken to Crouch's management and we're trying to talk him into coming out to Australia with his family for a playing stint at the Jets," Tinkler told The Telegraph.
"The FFA and Fox want to see some big names out here playing in the A-League and he certainly fits the bill. I've spoken to Emile and he's keen to help if he can. We'll see what happens."
Crouch has spent four years of his 15-year Premier League career at Stoke.
