Newcastle United midfielder Jonas Gutierrez has accused former manager Alan Pardew of telling him to look for a new club following his recent battle with cancer.
The Toon fan favourite made a welcome return to action earlier this week when he came on as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 home defeat against Manchester United.
It has been a tough road to recovery for the Argentina international, who spent more than 17 months on the sidelines in all, and, in an interview with Spanish publication Marca he accused Pardew of trying to push him towards the St James' Park exit door.
"He told me to look for a team a moment after the second operation at the end of 2013," the 31-year-old said.
"This hurt me a lot. You have to be more human and not look only at the football side and business. I only look to the future and each of us has to look at themselves and their conscience."
Gutierrez also revealed that he is hoping to land a new contract with the Magpies having finally made his long-awaited comeback.
