Davide Santon and Rob Elliot are undergoing medicals today ahead of potential transfers to Newcastle United.
Inter Milan full-back Santon has already agreed personal terms for an expected five-year contract at the club, where he will fill the void created by Jose Enrique's move to Liverpool.
A fee of around £5m has been agreed with Inter for the 20-year-old, who has made 40 appearances for the club.
Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Elliot is on Tyneside for a medical and to discuss personal terms as manager Alan Pardew aims to improve his options after Celtic re-signed Magpies keeper Fraser Forster on a season-long loan.
