Newcastle United attacker Allan Saint-Maximin has insisted that he will never let the club get relegated from the Premier League.
The 24-year-old played a key part in Newcastle's crucial 2-1 win away to Burnley on Sunday, coming off the bench to assist Jacob Murphy for the equaliser before scoring the winner himself seven minutes after his introduction.
Saint-Maximin has been limited to just 18 Premier League appearances this season, having spent time on the sidelines due to COVID-19 before being ruled out with a groin injury.
After helping end a run of seven games without a win for Newcastle, the Frenchman told reporters: "We can never go down. Seven really tough games to go. Everyone gives their best. The mentality is to do everything for the wins. It was such an important win and now we can believe.
"When you have been out four weeks you want to come back stronger and do your best. I worked a lot at home and in the club to come back. You know the team needs you and it is not good being out. I am happy to have an impact."
Saint-Maximin has made 49 appearances for the Magpies, scoring seven goals and adding 11 assists. body check tags ::
