Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City Wout Faes next summer.
The 26-year-old has made a steady start to the Premier League campaign for the newly-promoted Foxes, who currently lie 15th in the top-flight standings.
Faes has started and played every minute of Leicester's opening seven matches at the top table of English football, scoring during the 2-1 loss at Fulham on August 24.
The centre-back was a stalwart alongside Jannik Vestergaard at the back for Enzo Maresca's Foxes last term as they secured the Championship title.
Since making the high-profile move from Ligue 1 outfit Reims during the summer of 2022, Faes has featured on 90 occasions for Leicester, scoring four times.
Newcastle 'targeting' Leicester defender Faes?
According to CaughtOffside, Champions League-chasing Newcastle are set to chase the signatures of new defenders during the January and summer transfer windows.
The report claims that Leicester centre-back Faes is of interest to the Magpies, who have supposedly made the acquisition of backline options a priority ahead of 2025.
With current defenders Fabian Schar and Dan Burn approaching the conclusion of their deals at St James' Park at the end of the season, it is understood that Newcastle are looking for replacements.
It is believed that the North-East giants would be able to secure the services of Faes for around £33m, although it remains to be seen whether Eddie Howe's side could negotiate a lower fee.
That could be a possibility considering that the defender was reportedly considering a move away from the King Power Stadium over the summer.
Newcastle face Italian competition for Faes
As well as Newcastle, Leicester starter Faes is attracting interest from further afield, with Italian giants Juventus also keen on the defender.
It is understood that the sporting director of the Old Lady was in attendance last Thursday, when Faes played for Belgium in the UEFA Nations League against Italy.
After his international exploits, the 26-year-old will be back in club action on Saturday afternoon as Leicester travel to fellow strugglers Southampton in the Premier League. body check tags ::
