Newcastle United have reportedly improved their offer for Mathieu Debuchy in an attempt to beat inter Milan to the France international's signature.
Alan Pardew is believed to have had an approach rejected by Lille earlier in the summer with the Ligue 1 side holding out for a better price.
However, The Mirror claims that Newcastle have returned with a fresh bid after reports claimed that Inter Milan were interested in the defender.
Lille president Michel Seydoux said: "Our price is £6m, because he is a quality player and we need to find a good replacement in the transfer market."
Newacstle's latest offer is expected to be in the region of £6m plus add-ons.
