The Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 will go without the use of goal-line technology until further notice after a number of clubs voted against its introduction into German football.

The DFL Deutsche Fussball Liga GmbH has confirmed that a number of clubs in both divisions decided to vote against the idea, with a necessary two-thirds majority not being reached.

Nine Bundesliga clubs and 15 Bundesliga 2 sides decided to vote against the prospect, with 12 clubs in each division needing to have voted in favour of the proposition for the technology to be installed.

Goal-line technology has increased in prominence in recent years, with the Premier League the latest to adopt the use of the computer-aided observational technique.
