Harry Redknapp has dismissed reports that Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with Ajax regarding a move for Jan Vertonghen.
The Belgian, who has captained Ajax to the Eredivisie title this season, has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester City and Arsenal also said to be interested.
Redknapp admitted that he has watched the 24-year-old centre-back but said that Spurs have yet to make a formal bid.
"He is a good player, a player I have looked at and watched," Sky Sports News quotes Redknapp as saying. "I think there are a lot of clubs interested in him though. So, that is all.
"We haven't gone anywhere with it. We haven't spoken to the club. He is just a player I have watched, along with a lot of other players."
Vertonghen has played 35 times for his country.
