Toronto FC have launched a surprise swoop for Boston College midfielder Kyle Bekker in the MLS SuperDraft in Indianapolis.
The Canadian side, who traded their first pick to New England, decided to stay local by picking Bekker.
While the capture was not expected, Bekker may have attracted the attention from Toronto, who will be managed by Queens Park Rangers defender Ryan Nelsen next season, after impressing at Combine.
Toronto also had fourth pick in the draft but they traded their position with the Vancouver Whitecaps for 10th spot and allocation money.
The Whitecaps went on to choose Kekuta Manneh from Gambia and Erik Hurtado from Santa Clara University in the fifth pick.
