A first-half strike from Dario Cvitanich was enough to give Nice all three points against Marseille in Ligue 1 this evening.
Marseille had a chance to take an early lead when Andre Ayew looked to head in from close range, but his effort was just high.
Mahamane Traore came close to breaking the deadlock midway through the first half, but quick reactions from Steve Mandanda ensured that the strike was tipped over.
Cvitanich looked to set up Jeremy Pied, but the winger could only smash the ball against the bar, before the striker was able to take a chance himself just before the break to put the hosts ahead, rounding the keeper to slot into an empty net.
The visitors made a bright start to the second half as Florian Thauvin tested David Ospina just two minutes after the restart.
Thauvin and Ayer continued to pose a threat throughout the second half as Marseille looked to get back on level terms, but Ospina continued to hold firm in goal, securing the win for Nice.
