Nice and Nancy secured a share of the spoils as they played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
It was Nice who started the better with Anthony Mounier and Kevin Anin both going close inside the opening four minutes, but Guy N'Dy Assembe twice denied the home side the lead.
Nancy took the lead, entirely against the run of play, after 13 minutes when Daniel Niculae thumped a powerful header into the back of the net after good work from Yohan Mollo.
Nice continued to dominate possession, however, and Abraham Guie Guie came close with a header after 25 minutes before Kafoumba Coulibaly brought a fine save from Assembe as the match approached the break.
Nice levelled the match after 37 minutes and it came via Franck Dja Djedje who found a cool finish after good work from Mounier, to level the match at the interval.
Nice so nearly took the lead early in the second period when Mounier found himself unmarked outside the box, but his effort was just high of the target.
Nice, much like the opening half, continued to enjoy the possession, but it was Nancy who so nearly went ahead after 67 minutes, but Mollo's effort was just wide of the target.
Chances were few and far between in the latter stages of the match, with both sides seemingly accepting a share of the points.
