Goals in each half from Paul-Georges Ntep and Anders Konradsen have lifted Rennes to a 2-1 away victory over Nice in Ligue 1 this evening, propelling Philippe Montanier's men into fourth spot in the table.
Ntep looked dangerous in the opening exchanges, and he sought to carry on his fine form of late when he put Rennes in front in the 12th minute with a header from six yards.
Dario Cvitanich tried to drag his side back onto level terms just a minute later as he collected the ball from distance, before letting flying with a testing shot that required some safe hands from stopper Benoit Costil.
Nice struggled for clear-cut chances in the first half, but they almost grabbed a leveller through Carlos Eduardo, who again was denied outside of the box by a standout save from Rennes keeper Costil.
Costil's work in the first half paid dividends early in the second when Rennes were able to double their lead, this time as Konradsen tucked into the bottom corner having made use of a Christian Bruls cross.
Nice were able to claw one goal back through Cvitanich, who prodded in from a corner, but it was too little too late as Rennes hung on to claim three important points away from home.
