Conflicting reports on Norwich City's finances

Two contrasting reports emerge regarding the financial situation at relegated Premier League outfit Norwich City.

Mixed messages have been released this afternoon regarding the financial situation at Norwich City.

The Canaries are facing up to life in the Championship in 2016-17 following their recent relegation from the Premier League.

According to The Secret Footballer, the pseudonym of an alleged ex-Premier League footballer, the Carrow Road-based club are now in a "financial crisis" that will result in an "imminent fire sale of players".

"Norwich City are in financial crisis. I've heard there will be an imminent fire sale of players," he tweeted.

"They've lost main sponsors Aviva - who will become a Premier League official partner. The club's banking credit facility is maxed out.

"The owners won't be investing and there is a process underway to remove current owners before new foreign investors come in."

However, Eastern Daily Press journalist Michael Bailey, who covers the club closely, countered that viewpoint on the social networking site.

"You won't be seeing @NorwichCityFC dignify the Secret Footballer tweets with a comment, but it's complete garbage & rather ridiculous," he wrote.

"In fact for me, it probably raises more question marks over defamation rules and social media than the financial state at Carrow Rd."

As claimed by Bailey, Norwich are yet to publicly pass comment on the rumour.
