Chris Hughton has insisted that he could have kept Norwich City in the Premier League last season.
The 55-year-old was sacked as boss of the Canaries with five games to play in the campaign and replaced by Neil Adams.
However, Norwich lost four of their last five matches and were condemned to the Championship as they finished in 18th place.
Hughton told The Mirror: "I honestly thought I could have kept them up. Yes, we had tough matches against top sides left, but the first of the five was at Fulham and I felt we could win that."
The 55-year-old has been linked with the vacant post at Leeds United.
