Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has insisted that he has not signed Ricky van Wolfswinkel just to score goals.
The 24-year-old arrived at Carrow Road on Monday afternoon with a reputation as a clinical finisher from his stints in his native Holland and more recently Portugal with Sporting Lisbon.
However, Hughton has revealed that while he is keen for the Dutch international to find the net, he is hoping that he can also get involved with his side's general play.
"We have brought Ricky in here for a particular reason, but he is a team player, first and foremost, that has a responsibility to the team to lead the line and ultimately score goals, but that comes with the territory," said the manager.
"I don't believe with how tactical and the speed of the game nowadays that you can just be a goal scorer, first and foremost you have to be a team player."
Van Wolfswinkel is believed to have cost the Canaries £8.5m.
