Alex Neil: 'Norwich City must start taking chances'

Norwich manager Alex Neil warns that his side can't afford to keep missing chances if they are to stay in the Premier League following their defeat to Chelsea.

Norwich City manager Alex Neil has warned his side that they cannot afford to keep wasting chances if they are to stay in the Premier League this season.

The Canaries dropped into the relegation zone courtesy of their seventh defeat in their last eight league games this evening, losing 2-1 to Chelsea at Carrow Road.

Despite the defeat, Neil was pleased with his side's work ethic, but acknowledged that they need to show more of a cutting edge in the final third.

"The first goal is a real disappointment for us. We have six behind the ball and the left-back scores. The second is offside and you expect the officials to get that," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"The fact is we didn't really get exposed for the first goal but didn't deal with it and shut down quick enough. I felt when it was 2-1 we looked the team controlling and having the pressure.

"All you can ask is for them to give everything and they did that. They worked very hard in the last few matches and we deserved more but we can't keep having the same story after games. When we get chances we need to take more of them."

Norwich face fellow strugglers Swansea City in their next match on Saturday.
