Robert Snodgrass has insisted that Norwich City are not too downbeat following their 1-0 pre-season friendly defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes.
It was anticipated that the Canaries would overcome their American counterparts inside Buck Shaw Stadium, but an early goal from Cordell Cato secured the win for the hosts.
However, despite admitting that it was a disappointing result, midfielder Snodgrass believes that gaining match fitness ahead of the new Premier League season is more important.
"It wasn't a good result but at the end of the day the object of the exercise was to get some more minutes under our belt and some tough games coming up back home," he told the Eastern Daily Press.
"You don't want to be playing against opposition at this stage and beating them five or six. You want to be testing yourself all the time because this is what the Premier League is all about. You get tested week in, week out. I think you want that as footballers."
Next up for Norwich is a match against the Portland Timbers on Wednesday.
