Matt Jarvis: 'Sunderland match is massive for Norwich City'

:Headline: Matt Jarvis: 'Sunderland match is massive for Norwich City': ID:270318: from db_amp
Norwich City winger Matt Jarvis talks up the importance of his side's upcoming relegation battle against fellow strugglers Sunderland.

Norwich City winger Matt Jarvis has admitted that next weekend's relegation battle against Sunderland is a "massive" match.

The Canaries currently sit four points clear of Sam Allardyce's side, who failed to close the gap this afternoon when they were beaten 2-0 by league leaders Leicester City.

The Black Cats still have a game in hand over Norwich, though, and Jarvis is hopeful that they can bounce back from Saturday's defeat to Crystal Palace when they welcome the North-East outfit to Carrow Road.

"Each game gets bigger and bigger, so it's massive. That's what happens at this time of the year. Being at home, we know if we're able to get the win it would give us a big jump. We really wanted to take something from [Palace] but have to ensure our home form continues. That starts with getting a good result on Saturday," he told the club's official website.

"We're really disappointed as we felt we deserved at least a point [against Palace]. There weren't many chances in the game and I think a 0-0 draw would have been a fair result. The goal was a great finish but generally we defended well. Over the past few weeks we've shown how well we can defend, as well as attack.

"We created numerous opportunities but they just didn't fall our way. We got into the right positions but couldn't test the goalkeeper enough. Ultimately we've paid the price for that so we need to make sure we bounce back next week."

After their match against Sunderland, Norwich take on Arsenal, Manchester United, Watford and Everton in their last four games of the season.
