Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker has slammed the decision of Norwich City to sack manager Chris Hughton.
The Canaries parted company with the 55-year-old, with the club 17th in the Premier League and five points above the relegation zone, with just five games left in the campaign.
Lineker played with Hughton at Spurs and has admitted that he is baffled by the decision for Norwich to fire his former teammate at this stage of the season.
He wrote on Twitter: "Chris Hughton has been sacked by Norwich. Now? With 5 games to go? Utterly bonkers!
"Statistics show that the thinking, that a new man in charge brings an immediate upturn in fortunes is a complete myth."
Under-18's manager Neil Adams has replaced Hughton at the helm at Carrow Road.
