Derry City winger Stephen McLaughlin has admitted that he would be "over the moon" if he completes a move to Nottingham Forest.
The 22-year-old spent a week on trial at the City Ground and if he passes a medical at the Championship club on Tuesday, he is expected to join the East Midlands side in the near future.
McLaughlin told the Londonderry Sentinel: "It has been a long couple of weeks, not knowing what was going to happen, but hopefully now everything will be sorted out.
"If I get the opportunity to sign for Forest then yes I'll be over the moon. Who wouldn't be delighted?
"I enjoyed my trial with Forest. It's a massive step up from League of Ireland, because there are better players, better facilities and better training."
If McLaughlin completes his move to England, it is believed that the transfer would cost Forest in the region of £200,000.
