Oxford United have reportedly held talks with Sol Campbell over the vacant managerial position at the Kassam Stadium.
Earlier this week, Everton Under-23s boss David Unsworth allegedly ruled himself out of the running to replace Pep Clotet, but it appears that the League One side have moved quickly to hold talks with another potential candidate.
According to Sky Sports News, preliminary discussions have been held between Oxford and former England international Campbell.
The 43-year-old has previously expressed a desire to get into the coaching and management side of football but as it stands, his sole experience has come on the backroom staff of the Trinidad and Tobago national team.
Craig Bellamy is regarded as the bookmakers' favourite for the job, while Oxford currently sit in 10th place in the third-tier standings.
