Parma have moved eight points clear of the Serie A relegation zone with a 3-1 win over high-flying Lazio.

Many had expected the hosts to be low on confidence, having not won in their last nine matches, but they made a superb start and were two goals up within the opening 12 minutes.

McDonald Mariga made the breakthrough six minutes in, burying low into the bottom corner after a slick pass from Jonathan Biabiany.

Sergio Floccari's planted header doubled the lead, but Lionel Scaloni brought Lazio back into contention nine minutes before half time with a fierce right-footed shot from outside the box.

Floccari sealed the win 19 minutes from time, crashing home from close range to net his sixth goal of the season and third in two matches.
