Go Ahead Eagles have earned themselves three valuable points by beating PEC Zwolle 3-2 in an exciting Eredivisie clash at De Adelaarshorst this afternoon.
The hosts took the lead as early as the seventh minute when Jeffrey Rijsdijk connected with a Fernando Lewis cross to fire home.
The provider then turned goalscorer when Deniz Turuc's cross on the quarter-hour mark led to a scramble in the area which ended with Lewis poking the ball past Warner Hahn in the visiting goal.
Stefan Nijland halved Zwolle's deficit in the 20th minute with a powerful long-range shot, but Eagles restored their two-goal advantage with nine minutes left in the first half after Bart Vriends prodded home a Jop Van der Linden corner.
Tomas Necid ensured a nervy final 15 minutes for the home fans when he headed in Bart Van Hintum's cross to make it 3-2 in the 75th minute.
However, the hosts were able to see out the game and secure all three points to put four points between them and the relegation zone.
