Peru captain Paolo Guerrero has been named on the bench for the South Americans' World Cup opener against Denmark in Group C.
The 34-year-old forward had been expected to take his place in the team after being handed a reprieve after a doping ban.
However, Peru coach Ricardo Gareca has opted to name Guerrero among the substitutes for the Blanquirroja's first World Cup appearance since 1982.
Benfica's Andre Carrillo, who spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Premier League side Watford, starts in an attacking midfield role.
Up front for Denmark is Feyenoord forward Nicolai Jorgensen, who has been selected over Ajax's Kasper Dolberg.
Right-back Henrik Dalsgaard, meanwhile, will become the first player under contract at Brentford to feature at a World Cup.
Premier League trio Kasper Schmeichel, Andreas Christensen and Christian Eriksen also start, while Ipswich Town's Jonas Knudsen is on the bench, alongside Huddersfield Town duo Matthias Jorgensen and Jonas Lossl.
