A goal from Jack McInerney midway through the second half has given Philadelpia Union a 1-0 win over Chicago Fire in the MLS.
The visiting Union started as the stronger side and Danny Cruz had an effort from a free kick inside five minutes, but it was deflected wide.
Neither side were managing to get their shots on target until finally the Union goalkeeper was forced into action, saving a Jalil Anibaba effort.
Then came a period of home pressure, with both Chris Rolfe and Wells Thomson having decent chances, but neither could test Zac MacMath in the away goal.
Daniel Paladini came close for the hosts, but there seemed to be no way past MacMath.
Early in the second half Rolfe was next to work MacMath, but Chicago could not take advantage of their pressure.
In the 76th minute Hoppenot gave away a free kick from which substitute Sebastien Le Toux found McInerney, who netted for the opening goal.
Chicago could not get the chance they needed to equalise and Union took all three points.
