Plymouth Argyle's Nick Chadwick has been given a six-match ban by the FA following his sending-off during last weekend's 4-0 defeat to Port Vale.
The former Everton striker was suspended for three games for receiving a straight red card, but the governing body further punished him for an incident that occurred in the first minute of the game.
Plymouth issued a statement condemning the player's behaviour, noting that Chadwick himself regrets his actions and accepts the punishment.
"Pre-mediated violent behaviour on the field is totally unacceptable," read the statement.
"Nick regrets his actions which have led to this ban and he apologises unreservedly for them. He fully accepts the punishment handed down by the FA."
Chadwick will not be available for selection until Plymouth's League Two clash with Northampton Town on February 23.
