Portland Timbers have overtaken Real Salt Lake City in the MLS Western Conference thanks to a 2-0 win over DC United.
Rodney Wallace broke the deadlock in the 21st minute at the RFK Stadium, firing beyond Bill Hamid and into the top left corner.
Victory was assured when Darlington Nagbe finished from inside the box in the 56th minute.
The result sees Portland close the gap on leaders FC Dallas to just two points, while DC United remain rooted to the bottom of the Eastern Conference with just one win all season.
