Joel Ward struck six minutes from time to rescue a point for Portsmouth in today's South Coast derby against Southampton at Fratton Park.
After a goalless opening 45 minutes, visiting Southampton broke the deadlock just after the hour mark.
David Fox sent over a cross which was met by Rickie Lambert who headed past Stephen Henderson from six yards.
Lambert's goal looked to have the Saints all three points until Ward rose highest to convert George Thorne's cross.
Saints captain Lambert had a chance to win the match in stoppage time, but his curling effort was just off target.
