Portugal boss Fernando Santo reveals discussions will take place over his future following the country's World Cup exit.

Portugal head coach Fernando Santos has addressed his future following the country's World Cup elimination.

The Selecao set up a quarter-final meeting with Morocco after cruising to a comfortable 6-1 win over Switzerland in the last 16, but they were unable to get the better of the Atlas Lions on Saturday.

Youssef En-Nesyri scored the only goal of the game to guide Morocco to a 1-0 victory, ensuring that Portugal's wait for a World Cup trophy continues.

After being eliminated in the quarter-finals in Qatar, journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Santos is set to be sacked as Portugal boss.

Following the narrow defeat to Morocco, the 68-year-old indicated that a decision would be made on his future in the coming days.

Santos said: "Tomorrow I will fly to Lisbon and we will discuss with the president about my future, as always."

Santos guided the Selecao to the Euro 2016 title, but he oversaw last-16 exits at the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2020.

Meanwhile, Morocco will face France in the last four after the Atlas Lions became the first African nation to reach the World Cup semi-finals.
