Preston North End have beaten Ipswich Town thanks to a second-half hat-trick by Joe Garner.
It was an even start at Deepdale, but Ipswich had the game's first chance when a cross by Paul Anderson was headed into the arms of Declan Rudd by striker Frank Nouble.
Despite Preston gradually getting more of the ball, the Tractor Boys continued to carve out the better opportunities, and Ryan Tunnicliffe fired over the bar from the edge of the area after Stephen Hunt's corner was cleared.
The home side were comfortable on the ball but struggled to find a way past a solid Town defence. Chris Humphrey hit a dangerous ball into the box, but Scott Loach got up well to gather.
Good play by Hunt and Jay Tabb eventually found Nouble, but his shot was deflected wide for a corner.
The away side went 1-0 ahead in the second half when Nouble lashed the ball home following a mistake by Rudd in the Preston goal, but Preston soon turned the match on its head with two goals in two minutes.
Garner just managed to squeeze the ball home from a corner to make it 1-1, before firing his side into the lead with a powerful shot past Loach.
However, Ipswich fought back and equalised as David McGoldrick headed in with his first touch after coming on as a substitute.
With the match heading for extra time, Garner slotted the ball into the corner to secure a dramatic win and a fourth-round tie against Nottingham Forest.
