Preston North End have announced that they have appointed Ryan Lowe as their new manager.

After just six wins from 21 Championship fixtures, Preston revealed on Monday evening that they had parted company with Frankie McAvoy.

However, the North-West club have taken less than 24 hours to find a replacement, bringing in Lowe from Plymouth Argyle.

The 43-year-old departs Home Park after a two-year stay, recording a total of 55 wins from his 128 matches in charge.

Argyle currently occupying fourth position in the League One standings, their outstanding start to the season leading to Lowe attracting the attention of a club in the division above.

Lowe will begin his Preston reign with a Deepdale encounter against Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.
