Preston North End have released a statement expressing their 'disappointment' that players' names have been placed in the public domain amid a widespread investigation into alleged corruption.

The League One outfit have confirmed that the National Crime Agency have contacted the club regarding a probe into alleged bribery and money laundering.

Following their initial statement, the club have written on their official website: "We are disappointed that individual player names are in the public domain given that none of these individuals have been charged with any offence.

"Having had time to meet with all the individuals concerned we reiterate our position that all players will remain available for selection by the manager and that until or unless the current situation changes it will be business as usual."

Seven footballers were arrested this week, while six others were rearrested in connection with the allegations.
