Preston North End manager Graham Westley has said that his players' fitness levels are only halfway towards what he expects.
Westley's endured a hard start to life at Deepdale after winning just two of his first 15 games in charge, as well as claiming that his tactics were leaked before Saturday's defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
"Endurance wise we're having to take it much easier than I would like," said Westley.
"If I were to say they've probably gone halfway forward from where they where towards where I want them to be by measure then that will give you an indication that there's a lot more you'll be seeing coming out of a Preston North End team as I get it fit.
"Certainly at the start of next season I would expect you to see a side that's had a full pre-season, that's been properly conditioned, that's in the right physical shape and then you can really get the best out of your technical abilities and your tactical abilities."
Westley took over from Phil Brown after leaving League One rivals Stevenage in the New Year.
