Former England goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has joined Preston North End on a one-year deal.
The 34-year-old was a free agent after turning down a new contract at Sheffield Wednesday earlier this summer.
Kirkland's previous clubs include Coventry City, Liverpool and Wigan Athletic.
"I had a great time [at Sheffield Wednesday], but I just wanted to try something new and this opportunity came up and I'm delighted to be here," he told Preston's official website.
"I've heard a lot about the club, I've been in the game a long time and I know a lot about Preston North End's history and what a great club it is. I am delighted it has been sorted out."
Preston are in action tonight when they travel to Crewe Alexandra in the first round of the League Cup.
