Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta has declared that the French giants are closing the gap on Europe's elite clubs, insisting Champions League success is not beyond them this season.
The Ligue 1 holders reached the Champions League quarter-finals last season, before their progress was halted by Barcelona over two legs.
Motta thinks that PSG have enough quality to merit comparisons with the likes of Barca and Bayern Munich, if they can find the consistency in performance to fight on two fronts.
He told Ligue 1's official website: "What likens us to those teams and to all great teams that have won the Champions League is that we have very important players.
"If we continue on the road we're on, we can achieve great results, even reach the Champions League final.
"There isn't much difference between us and those teams, whether it be technically, physically, or in our team play. But I think we still commit mistakes and we need to fix that."
Laurent Blanc's side have taken maximum points from their three matches in Europe this season, with their latest Group C win an eye-catching 5-0 victory at Anderlecht, which saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic score four.
