How Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Strasbourg

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Paris Saint-Germain could line up for Wednesday's Ligue 1 clash with Strasbourg.

Paris Saint-Germain will be without the services of Lionel Messi when they return to Ligue 1 duty against Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.

The 35-year-old finally achieved his lifelong goal of becoming a World Cup champion with Argentina in Qatar, and he is expected to take time out until the New Year.

Christophe Galtier is also without the injured trio of Renato Sanches (bruise), Presnel Kimpembe (Achilles) and Nuno Mendes (hamstring), but Danilo Pereira is now back in training as he battles back from broken ribs.

There will be no threat to Gianluigi Donnarumma's place in goal from Keylor Navas, while Marquinhos and Sergio Ramos will expect to form the centre-back partnership with Kimpembe sidelined.

Moroccan history-maker Achraf Hakimi is already back in training and should start on the right-hand side of the rearguard, with Juan Bernat occupying the left-back role for the champions.

A recognisable 4-3-1-2 formation ought to see Marco Verratti - apparently on the verge of signing a contract extension - link up with Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz at the base of the midfield.

Carlos Soler will likely fill the shoes of Messi just behind Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, with the former also making a rapid return to training following his World Cup final heartbreak at the hands of his teammate.

PSG possible starting lineup: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Ramos, Bernat; Verratti, Ruiz, Vitinha; Soler; Neymar, Mbappe body check tags ::
