Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has admitted that he held talks with Fiorentina earlier this summer about a potential transfer to the Serie A outfit.
The Italian was linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes before opting to sign a contract extension with the Ligue 1 champions.
"I had contact with Fiorentina," Verratti told reporters. "I want to thank [Fiorentina], but in the end I decided to stay at PSG and renew my contract.
"Fiorentina are a great team that have reinforced very well. I want to extend my best wishes to them for this season.
"I'm sure it will be a great championship for them with Napoli and Juventus also fighting for the Scudetto."
Verratti was also linked with a move to Manchester United.
