Belgian winger Dries Mertens is on the verge of completing his move from PSV Eindhoven to Napoli, according to his agent.
The 26-year-old will become the club's first arrival under new coach Rafael Benitez, although Soren Lerby claims that the Partenopei have been interested in him for some time.
"The lawyers are finalising the details, but we can say that Dries Mertens is now a Napoli player," he told Radio Cre. "By the weekend he should be ready to arrive in Naples.
"Napoli are a very important club and they have been showing interest for some time. Benitez has given his approval and a deal has been completed.
"Mertens wants to enjoy a great season and take an important step in his career at a club with great history like Napoli."
Mertens joined PSV from Utrecht in 2011.
