Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that Joey Barton will not be pressing charges following an altercation outside a Liverpool nightclub during the early hours of this morning.
Two men were arrested at the scene for allegedly punching the QPR captain.
However, the R's have confirmed that their midfielder is keen to put the incident behind him.
"Joey Barton was involved in an incident in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Monday morning," said club spokesman Ian Taylor. "Barton was on his way home from a night out with his girlfriend when two men sang offensive chants and then proceeded to hit the R's midfielder.
"Police were immediately on the scene and arrested one man.
"Barton decided not to press charges and left the scene with his girlfriend soon after. The club will be making no further comment."
Barton is currently under investigation by the club for his actions on the final day of the season against Manchester City.
