Queens Park Rangers have announced that former youth goalkeeper Tommaso Trani has died at the age of 21.
The Italian, who was on QPR's books between 2011 and 2013, died peacefully earlier today following a short battle with illness.
R's interim boss Neil Warnock was manager of the West London side when Trani first joined the club. He told the club website: "This is absolutely tragic news. Tommaso was such a lovely, lovely lad.
"When something terrible like this happens it opens everybody's eyes to the fact that football is only a game. There is nothing more important than your health.
"It gives us all a sense of perspective, particularly as he was so young. My thoughts are with his family."
Trani was part of the AC Milan academy before he moved to England.
