Les Ferdinand has accepted a misconduct charge from the Football Association following comments he made after Queens Park Rangers' defeat to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.
The club's director of football was accused of using insulting words and/or behaviour towards an official following the 2-1 defeat.
An independent commission will decide the length of a ban at a future date.
Ferdinand was appointed to his current role following Harry Redknapp's resignation last month.
